Abstract

Cameroon’s political, economic and social landscapes have been fundamentally altered by the emerging worldwide coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). This chapter examines the political, economic and social issues posed by COVID-19 in Cameroon using data gathered from primarily government, international governmental and non-governmental organisations’ databases, and news channels. The chapter makes comparisons across social, economic and political trajectories in order to comprehend variations in COVID-19 figures collected from various databases and to shed light on lapses in the conception, constraint and implementation of response strategies and restrictive measures, particularly in light of Cameroonian citizens’ lack of trust in government institutions.
